Connected Things: Device

A Connected Things device is a powered electronic device that can read a tag to perform an interaction. Types of devices include mobile phones (iPhone, Android…). desktop software and hardware and industrial electronic devices. Devices are made up of two components; hardware and software. Hardware is “dumb” in that it needs software to drive its functionality, and software alone can not interact with tags so it needs hardware. Devices can be identified via a unique identifier (uid) which is either a part of the hardware or generated by the software and stored on the device.
