Tag

A Connected Things tag is a passive, inexpensive physical object that can uniquely identify itself when read by a device as a part of an interaction. A tag is implemented by one of more tag technologies; the choice of which is an important decision. Tags come from the manufacturer in an initial “blank” state  as defined by the technical specifications for the tag and often must be encoded to work with software applications. Each tag technology has its own type of encoding process and data. Certain tag technologies have a unique identifier provided from the manufacturer.
