Linux NFC Software
Linux is a great operating system for NFC software as it can be efficiently run on low-cost computers and has less bloat which can interfere with NFC operations. The Desktop App is the best GUI app for NFC on Linux, along with barcodes and UHF RFID. Other external low-level tools and SDKs also exist. Linux is the recommended operating system for a dedicated Desktop App system.
External Libraries and Tools
There are a small number of 3rd party libraries and tools for working with NFC on Linux.
- Primary low-level NFC tool; missing several features and support for modern NFC readers and NFC chip types; hasn’t been updated recently
- pcsc-lite and pcsc-tools
- Both developed by Ludovic Rousseau who is an expert in Linux, PCSC and NFC
